my 900SS after
I specialize in the restoration of nineties analog Ducati dashboards for the 750 F1, 851/888 Superbikes and Supersport series (400/600/750/900 carbed). Sorry - I don't do modern/digital dashboard, just the Veglia-Borletti ones.
Just like most Supersports from the nineties, my former 1993 900SS had a really tired dashboard and I just couldn't look at it. The faded orange gauge hands stuck out like a sore thumb. On a forum I read how someone in the US had tackled his and I figured I give mine a go. What could possibly go wrong? Well - I broke one lens and ended up buying a donor gauge just for the lens. Live and learn, this needs to be done very carefull and you can't get fear get in your way.
I've done quite a few in the recent past and I don't cut corners. Many (inter)national clients have given me their much appreciated orders already, since they've seen me posting before and after pics on Facebook and contacted me if I would be inclined to do their dashboards as well. Others suggested I'd make a service of restoring these dashboards. Thanks for your push forward guys! So I started this as a service and I believe I'm one of the few in the world who do this - especially for this interesting fee.
What's it all bout? I disassemble, clean and repaint them meticulously (needles/rims) and I also deep clean the surrounding foam. Should the trip-o-meter reset knob/cable be jammed, I fix it also and even paint the knob matte black. If your plastic casing is damaged or has a piece missing, I'll consult with you whether I fix it using a cut-out from a donor casing. This will only cost a little extra, depending on the amount of damage and effort.
The rims are carefully and painstakingly removed, see the images. This alone takes at lease one hour per rim and the thin lense is quite brittle. The rims were then cleaned, sanded and repainted with a few layers of matte black spray paint and a layer of matte clearcoat to make it more durable. The needles are painted by hand with the correct RAL2004 bright orange and finished with a layer of UV resistand clearcoat to avoid future fading. Especially this totally transforms the look of your dash.
How do I work? You send me your dashboard, I get to work and return your restored dashboard. All shipping and customs duties/fees (if applicable) are on your behalf.
The entire process takes about 8-12 solid hours to complete, depending on how many gauges you have and the condition of your dashboard.
Tarriffs:
2 gauges (revs/speed): from €200
3 gauges (revs/speed/oil temperature): from €250
Repair of broken parts/replacement of missing parts: on request
Contact me for consultation please.
